Tents Ablowing!
We each will likely hear it a few more times … it was such a great week of VBS - Vacation Bible School! Despite tent covers ablowing in the gusty winds, a need of a couple bandaids, and some tech downtime … the Lord provided us His opportunity to share His loving message with the children of our community. The focus theme was directly from Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd …ahhh.
For we adults to claim that truth changes, well, everything! In the column of my Bible next to Psalm 23, I’ve penciled in this note, though I don’t know who first gave me this wise counsel, it seems worth sharing:
“God’s role as protective, sacrificed Caretaker reveals my role to remain loyal to and dependent upon Him.”
Dependent upon God, in all circumstances. It can be so quick, for me, to forget to remember this truth – God will seek out, provide for, and strengthen each one of His sheep, whatever is ablowing in this season of life. The prophet Ezekiel brought this truth to God’s chosen nation Israel when they were living in exile in Babylon because of their faithlessness toward God.
Ezekiel 34.11-16
The Lord God Will Seek Them Out
11 “For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. 16 I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.
Allow yourself to be rescued, recovered, and protected – physically and spiritually – by your Shepherd who seeks and brings back the strayed, cares for the injured, and strengthens the weak.
Dear one, believe and rely upon the fact that you are loved and held closely. All praise to God!
With love, Colleen
